About Taiwan Carbon Shuttle

Taiwan Carbon Shuttle Technology Co., Ltd. was established in July 2021.

Many members come from National Taiwan University. The team’s predecessor won the championship – Outstanding Entrepreneurship Award in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incentive Competition of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan, and its R&D technology capabilities have been highly recognized.

From its inception, the company has focused on manufacturing adsorption and separation materials. Its products can be applied to gases or liquids. It adsorbs and separates the selected target substance (whether it is a valuable substance or a harmful substance) from its original environment. And focusing on high-end and emerging fields, We continuously expand into new material varieties and develop new application areas through innovative technologies to compete in the international market.

Brand logo design concept

  • The logo uses dots of varying sizes arranged in a four-layer clockwise spiral, symbolizing the product’s spherical shape.
  • The four circles represent the broad application prospects of the researched materials in four major areas: air, wastewater, solid waste, and soil. Using [Taiwan Carbon Shuttle] materials, we aim to achieve clean air, pure water resources, and realize the ultimate goal of environmental sustainability.

  • Golden yellow, turquoise, lake green, and blue respectively represent [Taiwan Carbon Shuttle]’s main goals: the high-value precious metal gold, green mountains and clear waters, and a clear blue sky.

  • The multiple circular loops represent the product’s reusable circular concept. The blank space in the center of the logo represents the Earth, signifying our commitment to promoting our products to every corner of the globe and changing the world with innovative green technologies.

Development

Roadmap

Past environmental engineering technologies have primarily focused on treating industrial pollutants. Traditional activated carbon adsorbents mainly adsorb pollutants and remove them from the original system. However, traditional activated carbon is difficult to regenerate and is often directly buried, easily causing secondary pollution.

 

Taiwan Carbon Shuttle Technology, on the other hand, is committed to sustainable development and green technology development. It not only targets the adsorption and separation of pollutants in the environment but also develops suitable desorbents to remove adsorbed substances from the material. These substances are then concentrated and purified and returned to the raw materials in the manufacturing process, achieving the environmentally sustainable goal of resource conservation from cradle to cradle.

 

Taiwan Carbon Shuttle is dedicated to the innovative research and development of carbon materials applications. With the highest ideal of environmental sustainability, it is committed to developing green and innovative technologies. Reusability

Focusing on the material’s specific adsorption capacity for target substances, and removing the target substances from the material for further concentration, purification, and return to the original material for use, in order to achieve the goals of circular economy, carbon reduction, and waste reduction. The long-term goal is to develop a chemical leasing system, using innovative technologies and business models to improve the recycling rate of carbon materials.

Dr. Tsai Cheng-yen is one of the founders of Taiwan Carbon Shuttle Technology Co., Ltd. Since obtaining his doctorate, he has been engaged in environmental engineering-related research and development. Driven by a deep concern for the sustainable future of humanity and a love for all living things, he advocates for carbon reduction in the Earth’s ecological environment, aiming to allow the planet to recover. For many years, he has been dedicated to research on “the application of green materials in the removal of environmental pollutants,” and has also applied his research findings to everyday life. He participated in the Ministry of Science and Technology’s “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incentive Competition (FITI)” and won the Outstanding Entrepreneurship Award. His technology’s practicality was recognized by various sectors, leading him to leave academia without hesitation. He then integrated entrepreneurial partners with relevant degrees from National Taiwan University. Each member, driven by their dreams and a spirit of perseverance, joined hands to establish “Taiwan Carbon Shuttle Technology Co., Ltd.”

Dr. Chiu Chun-hsiang conducted research on environmental green materials during his doctoral studies, particularly focusing on the application of environmental nano-adsorbent materials in the removal of environmental pollutants. His doctoral dissertation received the Green Technology Dissertation Award from the Ching En Education Foundation.

After graduating with his doctorate, he joined the Institute of Green Energy and Environment at the Industrial Technology Research Institute as a researcher, conducting research related to environmental pollution analysis. He then became a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Environmental Change Research, Academia Sinica, where he conducted in-depth research on the analysis of environmental pollutants and their harm to human health. Subsequently, at the invitation of Dr. Tsai, the founder and CEO of Taiwan Carbon Shuttle Technology, he decided to leave academia and enter the industry, becoming the Chief Technology Officer of Taiwan Carbon Shuttle Technology. He successfully improved the first-generation material into a low-cost, mass-producible commercial product, and continues to research environmental green materials, leading Taiwan Carbon Shuttle Technology into a key part of the green industry.

Dr. Yuefeng Li has long been dedicated to research in water treatment technology, particularly possessing extensive experience and profound academic expertise in the separation and treatment of perfluorinated compounds (PFAS). Over the past decade, he has delved into PFAS pollution control technologies, focusing on efficient removal and separation/recovery mechanisms, achieving significant results in electrochemical treatment and electrocoagulation/flotation technologies. He is committed to developing innovative technologies to improve PFAS removal efficiency, reduce treatment costs, and minimize secondary pollution.

In recent years, with the increasing emphasis on carbon reduction, Dr. Li has focused on carbon reduction technologies and ESG sustainability, concentrating on carbon emission hotspot assessments and process improvements to assist companies in reducing carbon emissions and improving resource recycling efficiency. He believes that advancements in science and technology can provide more concrete solutions for environmental sustainability.
